Even though reports of positive H1N1 tests have subsided across the country, U.S. health officials warn that another outbreak is possible and urge people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Officials at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday that approximately 60 million Americans have received the vaccine, but that 136 million doses are still available and should be easily accessible through clinics, health departments and doctor's offices, CNN.com reports.
"I am concerned that people may think this is all over," said Dr Anne Schuchat of the Center for Disease Control. "I would hate for people to make decisions thinking there is no risk and then get sick or severely ill
I think complacency is probably our top enemy right now," she added.
There are still a few states reporting widespread swine flu activity including Maine, Delaware, Virginia and New Jersey, according to HealthFinder.gov.
Schuchat added that during the last pandemic in 1957, the flu outbreak slowed for several months before returning with great strength.
