PSA testing is considered one of the strongest tools in the fight against prostate cancer, and one group is challenging more men to get screened for the condition.
ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer is currently holding its Drive Against Prostate Cancer event, in which mobile testing vehicles head across the country to encourage screeing among men. The group recently announced that financial contributions in recent months have allowed it to double its efforts in the hopes of reaching more men than ever before.
"The Drive Against Prostate Cancer is the most successful prostate cancer testing campaign in America, having tested more than 110,000 men in the last 10 years," said Skip Lockwood, the CEO of the group. "As we begin another 10 years in our fight against prostate cancer, this challenge to double the drive will allow us to dramatically expand the campaign and save many more lives through early detection."
PSA testing is considered so important because when prostate cancer is detected early it is relatively easy to treat. However, it can become deadly when it is left untreated. Therefore, detection of tumors is vital.
