Wait to have children can make conceiving more difficult

Category: Infertitlity Hormone Testing

A growing number of women are putting off trying to have a child in order to pursue careers. Experts say that these individuals may want to consider FSH testing prior to trying to conceive, as the process may not be as simple as they believe once they pass a certain age.

There are many treatments a woman can undergo to improve her chances of conceiving a child. However, it is important for her to first know if she is likely to experience any difficulties. This is where FSH testing comes in.

"There is a marked decrease in a woman's fertility from the age of 35 and as women leave starting a family later as they pursue their career, we are seeing more and more patients," said Anna Hosford, the clinical director of the Barbados Fertility Center.

She added that many individuals may have fertility issues that, when left untreated, can make it extremely difficult to conceive. However, there many treatments, including in vitro fertilization for extreme cases, that can improve the odds of conception.

While delaying childbirth may make getting pregnant harder, it does not make it impossible. This is why it is important for women to learn the state of their fertility if they decide to wait.
