According to a new study, there may be a scientific reason why some women may not be in the mood for sex.
New research appearing in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that women who have elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels may experience sexual dysfunction and lowered sexual arousal, Empowher.com reports.
This occurs because the high cholesterol level restricts blood flow, which could deter a woman's ability to have an orgasm.
However, aside from sexual problems, there may be another reason for women to get a cholesterol test.
According to the American Heart Association, a total of 55,000 more women than men have strokes and approximately 60 percent of total stroke deaths occur in women.
High blood cholesterol has been found to be a risk factor for heart disease. To combat this, women could get a cholesterol test for some insight into their health and, if their level is high, change their lifestyle or diet to avoid developing certain conditions.
Women who are concerned about the time it takes to go to the doctor's office for a cholesterol test may want to consider online lab tests, which are both convenient and cost effective for those with hectic schedules.
