In an effort to get more men interest in seeking PSA testing for prostate cancer, a roster of college basketball icons have teamed up with ESPN to work on a campaign that highlights the importance of taking charge of their own health matters.
Bob Knight, John Thompson, Digger Phelps, Len Elmore and Billy Packer have all signed on to be a part of the On The Line campaign. Their messages will be played in the months ahead on ESPN, urging men to talk to their doctors about their risk for prostate cancer and other devastating conditions.
"I know, first hand, the importance of getting the facts about prostate cancer and being able to weigh your options. Burying your head in the sand is dangerous," said Phelps, the former Notre Dame coach and current ESPN analyst. "It's only by taking charge of your health and talking to your doctor and your family that you can come up with the best plan of attack - one that can save your life."
Campaign directors have also teamed up with several prostate cancer advocacy groups to help spread their message throughout the community.
