Many New Yorkers do not use condomsA poll from the New York City Health Department found that the majority of New York City residents are not using condoms, making them far more vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases. The poll found that roughly two-thirds of the city's residents reported that they had not used a condom in their last sexual encounter, making it less surprising that so many of the city's residents test positive when it comes to STD testing.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released new data estimating that one-third of Americans have sexually transmitted diseases or infections. The new data shows that people aged 15 to 24 are most likely to have the diseases, the most common of which is the human papillomavirus. The agency urged STD testing for all sexually active Americans, especially those who are most at risk for infection.
